Description	:	Wesley Wilkins, 66, of Platte, SD passed away Sunday, January 22, 2012 at his home. Wesley Keith Wilkins was born on May 28, 1945 in Murdo, SD to Earl and Bergitta (Jorgensen) Wilkins. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith as a child. Wes' family relocated to Plankinton, SD in 1957 and he attended elementary school in both Fort Pierre and Plankinton. Wes started working with his dad learning the construction business at the age of 15. In 1964, he moved to Platte, SD and in 1965 he married Elaine Vanderheiden. Wesley Keith Wilkins was born on May 28, 1945 in Murdo, SD to Earl and Bergitta (Jorgensen) Wilkins. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith as a child. Wes' family relocated to Plankinton, SD in 1957 and he attended elementary school in both Fort Pierre and Plankinton. Wes started working with his dad learning the construction business at the age of 15. In 1964, he moved to Platte, SD and in 1965 he married Elaine Vanderheiden. They were together until Elaine passed away in 1998. Wes was employed with Peter Kewitt and Sons when he first came to Platte and was involved in helping build the Platte-Winner Bridge. He increased his skills while working 11 years for Sherman Visscher and then 11 years for Myron Lang doing construction. In 1986, Wes went out on his own, forming Wilkins and Son's Construction. In 2000, Wes was united in marriage to Dottie (Tatum) Friedt of Gillette, Wyoming. Wes enjoyed elk hunting in Wyoming with his brother-in-law, fishing, boating and water skiing with friends and family. The holidays were a very important time for Wes, especially when he would create his holiday display made up of thousands of Christmas lights. Wes loved spending time with his wife Dottie and attending activities his grandchildren were involved in. In 2010 Wes became a member of the First Reformed Church in Platte. Wes was preceded in death by: his parents; his first wife, Elaine and 3 brothers-in-law: Gene Vanderheiden, Lyle Vanderheiden and Don Dufrain.
