He was born September 7, 1934 in Baltimore, Md., son of the late Weston F. Conley Sr. and Frances "Fannie" Sullivan Conley. He was a U. S. Army veteran. Read More	CONLEY, Weston F. "Bitzie" Jr., 78, of Morattico, Virginia, died June 7, 2013 at home surrounded by his family. He was born September 7, 1934 in Baltimore, Md., son of the late Weston F. Conley Sr. and Frances "Fannie" Sullivan Conley. He was a U. S. Army veteran. Conley graduated from Lively High School in 1952 and attended Richmond Professional Institute. He started his long and distinguished business career with Industrial Supply in Richmond and Paxton Company in Norfolk, and in 1970, began his extensive involvement in the seafood industry as co-owner of RCV Seafood, Morattico; Smith Seafood, Reedville and Rappahannock Seafood, Kilmarnock. At the time of his death, he was a partner in Conley Properties, LLC. His professional life was characterized by leadership in many organizations, including the Virginia Seafood Council, Shellfish Institute of North America, Virginia Marine Products Commission (founding member), and National Blue Crab Industry Association (Director). He served on the Board of Directors at Bank of Lancaster for 28 years and as Vice Chairman for three years. He was also a founding Board member of Bay Banks, Chairman of the Loan Committee for 20 years and Chairman of the Lancaster/Middlesex Community Reinvestment Advisory Board. Known for his love of the community and its residents, Conley dedicated his life to serving others. He took an active role in numerous local organizations, contributing his knowledge of business and people as Chairman of the Board for the YMCA of Kilmarnock, member of the Lancaster County Sheriff's Advisory Committee, Chairman of the Lancaster County Economic Development Authority, and member of the Northern Neck/Chesapeake Bay Region Partnership, Northern Neck Planning Commission, and Lancaster County Chamber of Commerce. He was a longtime member of the Upper Lancaster Ruritan Club, where he recently received recognition for 50 years of perfect attendance in addition to his service as a Past President of the Upper Lancaster Ruritan Recreation Center and 25 year membership on the Chesapeake District Ruritan National Crab Feast Committee. Among community projects closest to his affection for the local region, its people and welfare was the establishing in 2004 of the Morattico Waterfront Museum, housed in the general store owned and operated by his parents from 1935 to 1953. Purchasing, with his family, the building and property for donation to the museum corporation in 2003, Conley was the driving force in the founding and subsequent success of the museum, a labor of love which saw him serving daily in capacities from informal advisor and Board officer to parking director and grounds crew member as needed. Conley was a dedicated, lifelong and active member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. He held leadership roles including Lay Leader and Chairman of the Administrative Council and was currently serving as Chairman of the Finance Committee. He was also Past President of the Bethel- Emmanuel United Methodist Men's Club and a past member of the Board of Trustees of the United Methodist Children's Home. His greatest joy was being surrounded by family and friends, sharing a meal, boating, traveling and most of all "talking". Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Dorothy Lee Clark Conley; his caring daughter, Connie Conley; his grand dog, Zoey; his brother, Robert B. Conley and his wife, Nancy; two nephews, Bobby Conley and his wife, Pam, and Mike Conley and his wife, Tina; two great-nieces and two great nephews; and a very special cousin, Debbie Saunders. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 11 at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Morattico. Interment will be private.
