Description	:	Whitman French funeral Friday Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m., from Nazareth Lutheran Church for Whitman French, 74, who passed away April 17th at Kelso, Wn. Interment will be at Rosehill Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Heidenberg-Peterson Post No. 64 and the VFW Post No. 7049. Intern Brian Wasmoen will officiate at the service. Irene Gravesen will be organist and Oliver Olson, vocalist. Pallbearers will be Jerome King, Harvey Nordin, Adrian Hanson, John Lindquist, Norman Eldevik and LuVern Anderson. Whitman Verwood French was born November 16, 1909, in Baden Township, a son of Oren and Elena French. He grew up in the Coulee area and in the late 1930's enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Hawaii for a time before the death of his father in February, 1938, when he was released to assist his mother on the family farm. He reentered the armed services in 1941, during World War Il, serving with the 7th Division in the Southern Pacific Islands. He was disabled during this time and after a short time moved to Kelso, where he had since made his home. He was a member of the Lutheran Church. Survivors include two brothers, Hiro French of Grand Forks and Ward French of Kenmare; three sisters, Mrs. Bernice Swartz of Fallon, Nev., .Mrs. Oren (Phyllis) Hanson of Palermo and Mrs. Roy (Erma) Hanson of Mentor, Mn. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until noon at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Kenmare, and at the church prior to service time. From The Kenmare News
