Although never very strong, the young man enjoyed fairly good health until about two years ago, when he suffered a long siege of typhoid fever. His work as salesman in a dry goods store gave him no opportunity to fully recuperate and he lacked sufficient vitality to withstand the dread disease by which he was last week attacked. Wyckliffe Malmgren was a son of Otto Malmgren, a pioneer settler of Howard county, who died in 1887. He was born April 1, 1880, on his father’s homestead near Wolbach, the farm being now owned and occupied by George Christensen. The day preceding his death was his twenty-fourth birthday. About three years after his father’s death Wyckliffe accompanied his mother on a trip to her old home in Sweden, where they remained about a year. Returning to St. Paul, he entered the employ of Joseph Kotik as delivery boy eleven years ago and had so faithfully performed all duties entrusted to him that he was promoted to the position of head clerk some time before his death. In 1898 he was married to Miss Barbara Ambroz, who with two little boys aged 5 and 3 years respectively, survive him. He also leaves an aged mother and a sister of about 20 years. Henry Malmgren, a real estate agent of this place during the ‘80s but now a resident of Texas, was his uncle and Mrs. A. Brock, Sr., his aunt. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Presbyterian church, Dr. George A. Ray and Rev. J. P. Yost officiating. The services at the grave were conducted by the local lodge of Modern Woodmen, of which deceased was a member, assisted by Rev. J. C. Pedersen of Dannebrog, who spoke in Danish.
