Description	:	Wideman Sidney Bryant, 65, retired chief of detectives of the Spartanburg Police Department died at his home on Sunday, May 5, 1946. Son of the William Augustus "Billy" Bryant (1845–1897) and Susan E. Davis Bryant (1847–1897); husband of Maggie Padgett Bryant (1885–1959). A member of the Police Department for 32 years, retired eight years ago because of failing health. Also predeceased by a sister, Jenie A. Bryant (1868-1908) and Amanda Jane Bryant (1872-1908). Funeral services were held at 4:00 pm, Monday, May 6, 1946, at the First Baptist Church officiated by Dr. E. Glson Dais, Rev. C.A. Kirby, and Rev. J.S. Cobb; burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
