Read More	The Osceola Sentinel, Osceola, Iowa September 18, 1924, Page 2 Wilbur Agustus Crist. Wilbur Agustus Crist was the son of John and Aurelia Crist. He was born on the 27th day of May, 1865, in Morrow county, Ohio. With his parents he came to Mahaska county, Iowa in 1866, the family afterwards removing to Clarke county, locating near Hebron, southwest of Woodburn. It was in this vicinity that Mr. Crist grew to young manhood. With the exception of brief periods of residence in Kansas and Nebraska, he lived in Iowa, and particularly in Clarke county during his entire lifetime. On July 27, 1890, Mr. Crist united in marriage with Miss Susie Mackey of Woodburn, at the bride's home. The wedding ceremony was performed by Rev. Geo. Mitchell. To Mr. and Mrs. Crist there were born three children, one of whom died in infancy. The others are Lawrence and Mrs. Hazel Wilson, the former still at home, the latter resides near Weldon. There are three grandchildren, Florence, Edith and Ruth Wilson. Mr. Crist had four brothers and one sister, only one of whom survive him, the eldest brother, George of Willow Springs, Mo. Mr. Crist was elected by the citizens of Clarke county to a position of public trust and service on two occasions having served two terms as county auditor including the years 1914 and 1918. During this time he made a wide circle of friends in this county. A perhaps more important responsibility was entrusted to him as a member of the Clarke County Draft Board. In which position he gave invaluable service during the entire period of the war. For several years Mr. Crist was one of the moving spirits in the work of the Lewis Chapel Christian church, taking an active place of leadership, especially in the work of the Bible school. During their residence in Osceola, Mr. and Mrs. Crist and family were regular and loyal in their attachment to the local congregation. Mr. Crist departed from this life at his home about eight miles southwest of Osceola at 2:30 in the morning of Wednesday, September 10, 1924. Interment was made at the Hebron cemetery following services at the Osceola Christian church, which was conducted on Thursday afternoon by the minister, Rev. LeRoy Munyon.
