Description	:	Funeral services were held Wednesday (June 20, 1923) afternoon at the farm home for Wilber Benjamin Rice, who died last Sunday (June 17, 1923). The Rev John H. Andress, pastor at Fire Congregational church was in charge. Wilber Benjamin Rice was born April 23, 1862 in Magnolia, Ia., his parents having come to western Iowa from Vermont as early pioneers in the fifties. Wilber Benjamin Rice was born April 23, 1862 in Magnolia, Ia., his parents having come to western Iowa from Vermont as early pioneers in the fifties. Being reared on the farm, he knew the hard work and the hardship of pioneer life. He taught school for three years and attended Ames agricultural school two winters. Sept. 1, 1887 he was married to Susie Louise Morris of his own home community. After farming in Iowa for five years, he came to Nebraska and in 1905 he moved to the vicinity of Norfolk where he has farmed for eighteen years. When he first came to Norfolk he united with the Omaha Avenue Congregational church, later transferring to the Methodist Episcopal church at Warnerville and about two years ago he united with the First Congregational church of Norfolk. Mr. Rice leaves, besides his wife, a family of children whose worthy character and work are a fitting tribute to his life of service. They are Carl, with the interstate commerce commission of Chicago; John, University of Illinois, at Urbana; Waldo, University of Georgia at Athens; Robert, Phillip and Ned at home on the farm, and Mary, in training as a nurse in the University of Nebraska Training School in Omaha. 2 more lines illegible.
