He was born March 6, 1921, at Fort Madison, the son of William and Genevieve Kramer Watznauer. He married Doris Blint, July 22, 1943, at Fort Madison. She preceded him in death in 1987. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of Ss. Mary and Joseph Church, Fort Madison. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corp. He is survived by one son, Gary (wife Tina) Watznauer, Fort Madison; two daughters, Mary Jane (husband Jim) Niggemeyer, Fort Madison and Barbara (husband Monty) Brayton, Zion, Ill.; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; four brothers, Floyd Watznauer and Bernard Watznauer, both of Fort Madison, Raymond Watznauer, West Point and Clarence Watznauer, Big Springs, Texas; six sisters, Evelyn Schneider, West Point, Pauline Blint, Fort Madison, Lucile Fedler, West Point, LaVerne Boeding, West Point, Vera Boeding, West Point and Rita Miller, Burlington; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. Friends may call after 2 p.m., Monday, May 13, at King-Lynk Funeral Home, Fort Madison, where a Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m., the family will meet with friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and there will be a Wake Service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 14, at Ss. Mary and Joseph Church, Fort Madison, with Rev. David Wilkening officiating. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Fort Madison. A memorial has been established in his memory and contributions may be left at King-Lynk Funeral Home.
