Description	:	Son of Edward & Clara Westendorf Heideman Wilbert Duane Heideman, 85, of Denver, died Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. Wilbert was born on October 22, 1927, two miles west of Denver, Iowa, the son of Edward and Clara (Westendorf) Heideman. He attended country school near his families' home and after schooling helped with the farming on the family farm. Read More	Son of Edward & Clara Westendorf Heideman Wilbert Duane Heideman, 85, of Denver, died Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. Wilbert was born on October 22, 1927, two miles west of Denver, Iowa, the son of Edward and Clara (Westendorf) Heideman. He attended country school near his families' home and after schooling helped with the farming on the family farm. Wilbert served in the National Guard from 1948-1950 and later served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1956. Wilbert worked at Schumacher Elevator and after 16 years he retired in 1989. After retirement Wilbert worked for Tom Lahman in his metal spinning shop. Wilbert enjoyed watching TV and was a self-taught organ and guitar player. He restored a 1939 John Deere tractor and also built two airplanes. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association #227. Wilbert is survived by two nieces and a host of close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his two brothers, Marvin and Lloyd. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Denver with burial in the church cemetery. Graveside Military rites will be conducted by Acker Matthias Post 653, Denver, Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to St. Peter Lutheran Church or Denver Sunset Home.
