He was born July 10, 1929, in Surry County to Dallas and Alice Bowen Coon. Mr. Coon was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a farmer, and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. He was a member of Shoals Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carole Hauser Coon of Pinnacle; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Jeff Payne of Pinnacle and Anna and Tim Miller of Siloam; a son, Philip Coon of Pinnacle; four grandchildren,... Read More	SHOALS, NC ~ Mr. Wilborn "Bill" Coon, 73, of the Shoals Community passed away Saturday, April 19, 2003, at his home. He was born July 10, 1929, in Surry County to Dallas and Alice Bowen Coon. Mr. Coon was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a farmer, and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. He was a member of Shoals Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carole Hauser Coon of Pinnacle; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Jeff Payne of Pinnacle and Anna and Tim Miller of Siloam; a son, Philip Coon of Pinnacle; four grandchildren, Ashley and Kevin Atkins, Ellis Payne, Jeremy Miller and Jordan Miller. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2003, at Shoals Baptist Church, with Dr. John Clagett officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday evening, April 20, 2003, at Cox-Needham Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Shoals Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Vickie Bowen, 215 Robert Owens Road, Pinnacle, NC 27043 or to Hospice of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County, 1100-C S.
