Description	:	Wilbur Carl Martin, age 86 of Waterloo, Iowa died Sunday, May 16, 2010, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2010, at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Nashua with Pastor Okitakoyi Lundula of the Nashua United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Oakhill cemetery with military honors by the Nashua VFW Post #6792. Friends may greet the family an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Wilbur Caryl Martin was born August 13, 1923, in Waterloo, Iowa the son of Arthur and Carol (Butler) Martin. He received his education in rural country schools near Nashua and graduated from the Nashua High School. After spending a year in Detroit he was then inducted into the United States Army on July 21, 1944. Wilbur served in the southern Philippines and in Japan and was honorably discharged as a Private First Class on August 17, 1945. He later married Barbara Ladd. To this union one son was born. Wilbur worked seven years at John Deere in Waterloo and the former Rath Packing Company for nearly 30 years. Wilbur took great pride in the farms he owned in Chickasaw County. He is survived by one son, Anthony Martin of Waterloo; a step-son, Richard (Cynthia) Fauser of Florida; a sister-in-law, Florence Martin of Nashua; three step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1994; and a brother, Eugene Martin.
