Read More	Rural Carrier Killed in Crash Near Knoxville Marion County's sixth auto death of the year occurred at about 12:20 p.m. Friday when Wilbur Wheeler, 41, of Dallas was killed in a headlong collision at the top of a hill on a county road southwest of Knoxville. Wheeler had just completed his rural mail carrier route out of Columbia and was driving west toward home when he collided with an auto driven by Victor Biddle, 55, also of Dallas. The accident occurred on a snow-packed hill on the Melcher-Gosport road, about three miles west of highway 14. A bystander told authorities he believed Wheeler died within ten minutes following the crash, considerably before the arrival of an ambulance. Biddle Injured Biddle was taken to Collins hospital, reportedly with five broken ribs, broken right leg and broken left knee cap. Both autos were damaged practically beyond repair. Wheeler was driving a '55 four-door Ford and Biddle was driving about a 1948 model Ford coupe. Wheeler's body was taken to the Bybee & Davis funeral home in Knoxville. This accident occurred only five days after Marion county's preceding auto fatality, the fifth of the year in the county. The victim of that accident was Larry John Dennison, 20, also of Dallas. Wheeler is survived by his wife, his father, and three sons, one of whom just arrived home on leave from the air force. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Dallas Christian church, with Rev. Azel Smith in charge, assisted by Rev. Ray Crews.
