Born at Upper Hainesville on March 17, 1916, he was a son of the late Charles and Ethel (Johnson) Jones. Wilbur was a retired poultry farmer. He served his community as a member of the Harvey Community Hospital Board, the Harvey Fire Department and was a volunteer ambulance driver. He enjoyed bowling, card playing and was the favorite co-pilot on the Lions Club seniors bus. Wilbur was an active member of St. Andrew's United Church of Canada and sang in the church choir for many years. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Althea (Coburn) Jones; a daughter, Carolyn Pundyk (Robert), Ottawa, Ontario; a granddaughter, Mary Jane Johnson (Lee); a grandson, John Pundyk (Sarah), both of Ottawa, Ontario; three great grandchildren, Christopher, Adam and Sarah; a sister, Dora Wallace, Hainesville; special in-laws, Guy and Violet Coburn, James and Berniece Coburn, Margaret Wood, Shirley and Raymond Mersereau and Betty Coburn and many nieces and nephews. Wilbur was predeceased by a son, Lawrence and three sisters, Lillian Hoyt, Muriel Jones and Lois Flemming. Resting at Swan Funeral Home, 1826 Highway 3, Harvey Station with visiting hours Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Saturday, October 11, 2003 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Andrews United Church of Canada, Harvey Station. Rev. Robert McDowell officiating, assisted by Rev. Dr. William Randall. Interment will be in Harvey Settlement Cemetery. For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Wilbur, the family has suggested the charity of the donor's choice.
