Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Peosta, with the Rev. Richard Kuhn officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Centralia. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today and from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Saturday at the church, where there will be a parish scripture service at 7 p.m. today. Huntz was born on Dec. 15, 1926, in Guttenberg, son of Andrew and Gertrude (Miller) Petsche. He attended the Guttenberg Grade School. When he was young, his family moved to a farm in Asbury. Since he enjoyed playing baseball so much, he helped in starting up the "Asbury Phil's" baseball team. He married Arlene Thomas on May 11, 1948, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Balltown. The couple bought a farm near Earlville in 1954. They farmed there for 37 years, after which they retired and moved back to Dubuque to be closer to their daughter and her family. Huntz took great pride in his ponds. He enjoyed fishing and swimming with family and friends and showing them how he fed the fish and wild geese that landed there. He was an extremely honest, patient, loving person, always taking care of everyone before himself. He was also very talented. There wasn't a thing that he could not build or fix. His main passion and joy of his life however, was spending as much time as possible with his three granddaughters and great-grandchildren. Surviving is his wife of 64 years, Arlene, of Asbury; his daughter, Sharon (Dick) Bartels, of Dubuque; three grandchildren, Carrie (Jamie) Hutchins, of Dubuque, Shelly Bartels, of Peosta, and Kristine (Jared) Meyer, of Bernard; three great-grandchildren, Logan, Madelynn and Beckhem; five brothers, Marvin Petsche, of Scales Mound, Ill., Harlan (Jeannine) Petsche, of Epworth, Verdus "Bud" (Nancy) Petsche and Robert (Mary) Petsche, both of Centralia, and David (Mary Jo) Petsche, of Hazel Green; four sisters, Ann Farnum, of Prairie du Chien, Wis., Althea Freiburger and Donna (Bill) Steger, both of Dubuque, and Judy (Joe) Kramer, of Muscatine; two sisters-in-law, Betty (Leroy) Steines, of Dubuque, and Geraldine (Gerald) Ernzen, of Marion. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leon and Elroy Petsche; a sister, Patricia; three sisters-in-law, Erma, Margaret and Toni Petsche; and four brothers-in-law, Joe Bauer, Merle Freiburger, Bill Farnum and Melvin Thomas.
