Description	:	Wilbur L. "Webb" Church, 92, of Central City, died on Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City. Webb was born on March 22, 1920, in Clarks to LeRoy "Roy" and Mabel (Branting) Church. Webb grew up on Prairie Island in Merrick County and received his education at country school in Merrick County and at Clarks High School. "Webb" Church, 92, of Central City, died on Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City. Webb was born on March 22, 1920, in Clarks to LeRoy "Roy" and Mabel (Branting) Church. Webb grew up on Prairie Island in Merrick County and received his education at country school in Merrick County and at Clarks High School. Webb enlisted in the Army Air Corp on November 19, 1941 and was honorably discharged on November 2, 1945. On June 23, 1946, Wilbur L. Church and Erma M. Madison were united in marriage in Clarks. Webb worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 43 years, serving in Central City for all except several years that he worked in Chappell. He retired from the railroad in 1980 and then was a substitute bus driver for several years. Webb was a member of the United Methodist Church in Central City, a lifetime member of the American Legion and the VFW, a member of the Masonic Temple, the Railroad Old Timers, and the Central City Senior Center. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting, and playing cards. Those left to cherish his memory are: wife Erma Church of Central City; children, Clyde and Marilyn Church of Grand Island; Gene and Lynne Church of Central City; Dale and Barb Church of Clarks; and Christine and Jim Moore of Central City; special daughter, Celia Cortez Luz of Sao Paulo, Brazil; grandchildren, Jason and Jared Church; Wade, Todd and Buck Church; and Sara and Zachary Moore; eleven great grandchildren; and sisters, Violet Willets of Fall City; Nona and Victor Hoffer of Grand Island; and Iola "Babe" Moore of Lake Havasu, Arizona. Webb was preceded in death by: parents; infant daughter, Diane Church; grandson, Adam Church; brothers, Leonard, Russell and Cecil Church; and sisters-in-law, Marjorie Church and Laura Church. Interment was in the Bureau Cemetery by Pierce Chapel, Clarks, NE. Published in The Grand Island Independent on July 27, 2012
