Description	:	Wilbur L. Cole age 84 of Pomona, Kansas passed away Sunday, July 5, 2009 at the Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. He was born August 25, 1924 on the family farm at Richland, Kansas, the son of Art and Flora Clare (Gress) Cole. He attended schools at Richland and graduated from the Berryton High School in 1942. On June 12, 1949 he was united in marriage to Esther Marie Utech at St. John's Lutheran Church in Topeka, Kansas. Cole age 84 of Pomona, Kansas passed away Sunday, July 5, 2009 at the Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. He was born August 25, 1924 on the family farm at Richland, Kansas, the son of Art and Flora Clare (Gress) Cole. He attended schools at Richland and graduated from the Berryton High School in 1942. On June 12, 1949 he was united in marriage to Esther Marie Utech at St. John's Lutheran Church in Topeka, Kansas. They shared over fifty-three years of marriage until the death of his wife on October 5, 2002. Wilbur and his wife Esther owned and operated a dairy farm in Shawnee County, Kansas near Richland before moving to the present farm in Franklin County, Kansas near Pomona in 1974. He was "Grade A" Dairyman for fifty years and awarded the 2007 Kansas Bankers Association Award Soil Conservation. He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Ottawa. He enjoyed working on the farm, caring for his dairy cows, visiting with family and friends and enjoyed his dog. He is survived by his sister, Arlene Zima of Topeka, Kansas; four sisters-in-law, Edna Mueller of Tampa, Kansas, Erna Peterson of Osage City, Kansas, Delores Siggs of Goddard, Kansas and Grace Raven and her husband Bill of Marietta, Georgia; two brothers-in-law, Bill Utech and his wife Carol and Junior Utech and his wife Liz all of Topeka, Kansas; and many nieces; nephews and cousins. Mr. Cole was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Esther; and two brothers, Lawrence Cole and an infant brother, Ervin Arthur Cole. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2009 at the Faith Lutheran Church, 1320 W. 15th Street, Ottawa, Kansas. Graveside services and Interment will be held at 3:00 p.m. following the service at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Richland, Kansas. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
