Wilbur was born on April 18, 1931, rural Anthon, Iowa, to George and Marvel (Howard) McNear with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Mapleton. Services: Friday, March 11, 2005 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mapleton, with the Rev. Mark Duchaine officiating. He graduated from Oto High School with the class of 1949. On September 4, 1961 Wilbur married Agnes Heisler at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mapleton. Wilbur farmed with his father as well as owning and operating his own Sinclair Service Station in Oto and then Mapleton for over 50 years. He was active in the Mapleton Flying Club and had his own plane for several years. He was also a member of the Mapleton Community Club and Maple Valley Development. Wilbur was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He lived for going to work every day and visiting with all his friends. Survivors include his wife, Agnes; three sons, Kent and his wife Samantha of Ute, Lynn and his wife Tami of LeMars, Iowa and Mark and his wife Molly of Danbury, Iowa; Grandchildren Chris, Brittany, Alexandria, Taylor and Tyler; two brothers, Ronnie and his wife Barb of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, and Gary and and his wife Susan of Fort Myers, Florida; and two sisters, Virginia and her husband Dale Hayworth of Correctionville, Iowa, and Betty Colesman of Aurora, Colorado. Wilber was preceded in death by his parents; one niece, Sheri Lou Hayworth; and one nephew, Todd Hayworth.
