Description	:	Wilbur Milton Schaefer was born on the family farm southwest of Tripp, South Dakota on November 12, 1922. His parents were Simon and Alvina (Geigle) Schaefer. He attended country school through 8th grade and attended Tripp High School for one year. Wilbur was united in marriage to Velma Denke on October 15, 1946 in the parsonage of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in rural Delmont. Read More	Wilbur Milton Schaefer was born on the family farm southwest of Tripp, South Dakota on November 12, 1922. His parents were Simon and Alvina (Geigle) Schaefer. He attended country school through 8th grade and attended Tripp High School for one year. Wilbur was united in marriage to Velma Denke on October 15, 1946 in the parsonage of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in rural Delmont. He worked as a mechanic at the Ford garage and at several other shops in the area. He was a member of Frieden's Reformed UCC Church. "Wips" enjoyed reading and fishing, and was well known for his friendliness and ability to visit with everyone, young or old. Uncle Wips was beloved to three different generations of nieces and nephews. Due to declining health, Wilbur became a resident of the Tripp Good Samaritan Center in December of 2005. He died on Sunday, July 23, 2006 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls at the age of 83 years. Wilbur is survived by two brothers: LaVern Schaefer and wife, Arlene of Tripp, Gilbert Schaefer and wife, Ione of Tripp; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma on March 4, 1996; a son, Ronald Allen, in infancy; his parents, a brother, Victor and infant brother, Norman; and a sister, Vesta. Interment was made in the Gracehill Cemetery, Tripp. Goglin-Kelley Funeral Home, Tripp, in charge of arrangements.
