COCHRAN EARLY RESIDENT Postal Employee 32 Years - Was Original City Carrier - Coliseum Service" Services were held here Monday for WILBUR COCHRAN, 63, who died suddenly at his home on Saturday. Mr. COCHRAN had been a postal employee for 32 years and was one of the original city carriers of the town. He served under the following postmasters: G. W. BLAIR, DAN ANDERSON, B. M. RUSSELL, LEA KELLEY, W. H. BLAIR, RALPH DERRY and BURNHAM SILSBY. He was the son of ASA and MABEL CHURCH COCHRAN and was born May 1, 1882, in the house in which he died and where he lived all of his life, with the exception of 4 years when the family resided in Leon during the term the father was county treasurer. He was baptized into the [R]LDS church on July 3, 1892, by his father. In 1901 he was graduated from the Leon high school and August 18, 1909 he was united in marriage to ETTYA BUNKER NEWTON ([Linda Harris] note: this is WRONG---he married ETTYA BUNKER in the town of Newton!!) He is survived by his widow and three children, WILBUR PAUL, Jr., of Bethany, Mo.; CLEMENT, of Chicago; and Mrs. CORA MULLINS, of Independence, Mo.; two grandchidren, WILBUR PAUL, III and JOE; and two sisters, Mrs. ELBERT A. SMITH and MRS. CORA GRENAWALT of Independence, Mo. Mr. COCHRAN was eligible to retire 2 years ago but due to the shortage of help he continued as clerk. He was a patient in the Independence Sanitarium last November and at Iowa City in December but had been back at the Post office almost daily since. Services were held at the Coliseum with Dr. R. A. Cheville in charge, assisted by Pastor E. J. Gleazer, Jr. Interment was at Rose Hill.
