Warriner Passes Away at the Age of 79; Homesteaded in County Death removed another of the long time residents of Knox county Saturday with the passing of W.S. Warriner at Norfolk. Two paralytic strokes within the past year or so had left him bedfast and his advanced age made any possibility of recovery remote. He was past 79. Mr. Warriner homesteaded in Knox county approximately 55 years ago, placing him in the ranks of those pioneers who were the builders of a new agricultural section. He had a host of friends in the community, who learned with regret of his demise. Willifred S. Warriner was born in Otsego county, New York, March 2, 1855 and passed away at the State hospital in Norfolk on May 19, 1934 at the age of 79 years, 2 months and 17 days. In June 1875 he enlisted in the United States Army and altogether served ten years. On June 2, 1879 he was united in marriage to Olive Truesdale at an Indian church, six miles southeast of Niobrara. To this union one son was born. At the time of their marriage, he homesteaded and after his army service he returned to the homestead and took up farming. His wife preceded him in death eight years ago. Subsequently his health failed and the last five years he was in the hospital. A year ago last April he suffered a stroke and in July of the same year had another stroke which left him paralyzed until death. He leaves to mourn one son, Waldo, of Center and four grandchildren, one brother, Cary Warriner of New York and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Danish Lutheran church at Winnetoon with the Rev. M.P. Bollesen of Copenhagen, the church pastor, officiating. Interment was in the west cemetery at Bazile Mills.
