Grace, 41, veteran of World War II , who had been making his home at Del Rio, Texas for the past 7 years, where he had been an employee of the United States Weather Bureau Service, died unexpectedly in that city Thursday morning. His body was returned to Cascade early Sunday morning. Funeral services were held from the Devaney Funeral Home Tuesday morning to St. Martin church where the pastor, Rev. Daniel O'Sulllvan, offered the Requiem High Mass and delivered the sermon. Present-in the sanctuary were the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Leo Jaeger, pastor of Holy Ghost church, Dubuque, the Rev. Albert Manternach, Loras college, and the Rev. Robert Ament, assistant pastor of St. Patrick's church, Dubuque. Interment was made in Calvary cemetery, the Rev. Robert Ament, officiating, assisted by Revs. O'Sulllvan and Manternach. Full military honors were, accorded Mr. Grace by Cascade Post, American Legion. Color bearers were Gerald Green, Louis Leibold; color guards, Charles Lasche, Tony Emerson. Firing squad: Kenneth Pedersen, William Dolphin, Bert Hostert, Edward Kremer, Carl Cigrand, Murland Davis, Wm. Burlage, and Herbert Green. Joe Merfeld, Jr., sergeant-at-arms, and Joseph Hayes were in charge of military components. Wilfred H., son of the late William and Elizabeth (Garrity) Grace, was born July 8, 1914 in Cascade. He was a graduate of St. Martin High school and attended Loras college. He entered the armed services of his country on August 6, 1942. He took basic training at Camp Forest, Tenn. On April 10, 1944 he embarked for overseas. He saw action in Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany He received his honorable discharge on October 7, 1945. For two years following military service he was with the U.S. Weather Bureau in Dubuque, and for the last seven years had been acting In a similar capacity at Del Rio. Surviving his passing are four sisters Mrs. Leo (Mary) Ament, Hopkinton, Mrs. Herman (Frances) Ament, Worthington; Mrs. Dan (Pauline) Conley, Dubuque, Mrs. Cyril (Margaret) Weber of Dorrance Calif.; 3 brothers, Leo, Detroit, Mich., Emmett, Denver, Colo.; Joseph, Ft. Worth, Texas. Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister.
