Hoefner The West Point Republican Death of William Hoefener The death of William Hoefener occurred on Saturday eveing at the farm home of his son, Albert, near Wisner, on Saturday evening. Mr. Hoefener had not been in the best of health for some time, although his condition was not regarded as serious. On Friday morning, however, he failed to rise at the usual time, and seemed ill. at about noon he became unconscious and remained so until the end, on Saturday evening. Mr Hoefener was a native of Germany, born in Lubbecke, on November 4, 1853. When he was twenty-five years of age he came to this country and a few years later settled in this county. On May 28, 1886 he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Raasch. For the past twenty-five years his family have made their home in this city, with exceptions of intervals of a year or two, at which time they were visiting their children in different parts of the state. Mr. Hoefener was a quiet and congenial man, liked by all who knew him. He is survived by his widow, six sons, namely: Emil of Pierce; Albert of Wisner; Edmund of Plainview, Arthur, Wilbert, and Martin at home, and by three daughters, Mrs. Ella Neligh of Kansas City, Kan., Mrs. Hattie Zipf of Pierce and Delilah at home. Funeral services were held from St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Monday afternoon, Rev. Oslchlaeger officiating. Interment was made in Mr. Hope Cemetery. The Republican offers condolences to the bereaved family. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Hooper Sentinel August 12, 1920 Mrs. Wm. Hoefner of West Point, who had been here a couple of days visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Raasch, was called home Friday morning by the sudden critical illness of Mr. Hoefner, who was at the home of his son, Albert, near Wisner. Saturday night relatives received word that Mr. Hoefner had passed away that day. Mr. Hoefner had been ill for some time, but his illness was not considered very serious until he took the turn for the worse on Friday. Mr. Hoefner was well known to a number of Hooper people, this place once having been his home. The funeral was held Monday. Those going up from here to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. John F. Meyer, Mr. and Mr. A. M. Tillman and Mrs. Henry Paulsen of Bancroft, who is here on a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raasch.
