She married Julius Degner in 1859. They had 10 children with 5 dying in infancy. They emigrated to the United States in 1867 to Watertown, Wisconsin and then came to Norfolk in 1870. She was among the charter members of Christ Lutheran congregation. Mr. Degner died Nov. 4, 1911. She lived with her oldest daughter, Mrs. Pasewalk for 7 years then with her youngest daughter, Mrs. W. Butzke near Polk. There she died last Tuesday at the age of 90 years. She was survived by her 2 sons: Albert at Alhambra, California; Julius at Glendale, California; 3 daughters: Mrs. August Pasewalk at Norfolk, Mrs. F. Namacker at Ashippan, Wisconsin; Mrs. W. Butzke near Polk, Nebraska; 21 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren.
