Prior to that she had been living with her granddaughter, Patricia Manson, since returning to Wenatchee from Vashon. She was a long time pioneer of the Bridgeport area. Mrs. Willms was born September 24, 1888, on Badger Mountain near Waterville, Douglas County, Washington Territory. She was the daughter of Hans Nicolai and Martha Engilina (Moberg) Hanson, who migrated to this country from Bergin, Norway, in the 1880s. Mrs. Willms was the second white child to be born in this territory. Minnie married Herman Johnson Willms on November 29, 1906, in Douglas County, Washington Territory. They homesteaded in Douglas County near Bridgeport. They had one daughter, Geneva Irene Kinkade. Mrs. Willms was very active in the Bridgeport Garden Club and the Lutheran Church. She was Postmistress for Bridgeport from 1946 to 1955 during the construction of Chief Joseph Dam. She is a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wenatchee. Survivors include her granddaughters, Patricia Dorrene Manson, Wenatchee, and Shirley Darlene Morey, Des Moines; two grandsons, Emmett Duane, Seattle and Marvin Dale Kinkade, Vancouver BC, Canada; 9 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Georgia Oliver Karas, California and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Mr. Willms in 1958 and her daughter, Geneva in 1969. Funeral services were held at Barnes Chapel Saturday, June 28. Burial in the Bridgeport Cemetery. Rev. Simon Maier officiated. Arrangements by Barnes Chapel, Brewster.
