Read More	1908 BURIAL Evangelical St. Johannes Kirche in Siegel, Bremer, Iowa Present day name and address: Saint John's United Church of Christ Cemetery Tripoli, Bremer County, Iowa WILHELMINA BERGMANN OBITUARY (from Waverly Phoenix 9 Sept 1908 Translated from German) Mrs. Wilhelmina Bergmann was born October 28, 1844, in Ziemandorf, Prussia, as the fourth child of Johann Friedrich and Catharina Dorothea Mummelthei. She married Heinrich Bergmann on March 20, 1866 in Chicago. They lived there for 2 and 1/2 years. Then the family moved to Bremer County, Iowa, where they lived for about 29 years on a farm two miles north of Siegel. Then they moved to a farm 3 and 1/4 miles west of Siegel where she spent 14 years of her life, eight as a widow, since her spouse died on June 25, 1900. About three months ago, the departed became seriously ill and was brought to her daughter Mrs. Winzenberg in Tripoli. On July 7, the doctors operated on her for cancer. She had the best of care, but she suffered greatly until the Lord took her softly from her earthly sufferings on September 4, 1908, at 5:30 p.m. She was 63 years old, 8 months, and 16 days old. Mother Bergmann leaves 9 children: Mrs. Emma Koch of Chicago, Maria Bergmann in Douglas Township, Caroline Winzenberg in Tripoli, Christine Drape in Douglas Township, Louise Backhaus in Chickasaw County, Bertha Backhaus, Heinrich, fritz, and Hermann Bergmann in Douglas Township, and also five sons-in-law and a daughter-in-law, a brother, a half-brother, and two half sisters. She was a true member of the Evangelical Church in Siegel. The burial was Monday which many in attendance at the St. John Church in Siegel, with Pastor Häusler officiating. Blessed be her memory. WILHELMINA BERGMANN OBITUARY (from Tripoli Leader) The lady named in the caption hereof passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Winzenburg, Saturday, Sept 5, at the age of 60 years. Mrs. Bergman was born in Germany 28 Oct 1848 and came to America when 19 years of age. At the age of 21 she was married to Henry Bergman at Chicago. Mr. Bergman died eight years ago, She leaves to mourn her departure, nine children who are: Henry, Fred, Herman, Mrs. Henry Koch, Chicago; Mrs. Henry Bergman, Douglas Twp; Mrs. Henry Winzenberg, Tripoli; Mrs. Chris Drape, Douglas Twp; Mrs. August Bockhaus, Chickasaw County, and Mrs. Herman Bockhaus, Douglas Twp. The funeral was held at the Henry Winzenberg home Monday at 10 o'clock. Rev Hauessler officiating. Interment was made in the Siegel Cemetery. The sorrowing children have the sympathy of all in this their most sad time, in the loss of their dear mother.
