Funeral services were conducted Jan. 28 at Zion Hill Baptist Church on Midway Road, with the Rev. Joe Campbell and the Rev. Stanley Campbell officiating. Burial was in Burgess Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Veterans Honor Guard. Burial was in Burgess Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. Campbell was born Jan. 13, 1923, in Cumberland County, the son of Gather Campbell and Mary Elizabeth Burgess Campbell. He was a bus driver for the Cumberland County School System. He served in the Army during World War II as a gun crewman, receiving a Purple Heart medal and a Bronze Star medal. He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church and enjoyed dogs, horses and hunting. He loved spending time with family, grandchildren and his church. Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Hester Lucille Neely Campbell; sons, Will (Margaret) Campbell Jr., Joseph (Sandie) Campbell and Ronald (Lisa) Campbell, all of Crossville; daughters, Virginia (Bethel) Lewis of Rock Island, TN, and Brenda (Buddy) Carey Turner of Crossville; 13 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; sister, Gladys Hunt of Kentucky; and a host of other family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, Forrest Ray Campbell; brothers, Litton, Dallas, Everett and Arlas Campbell; sisters, Stacy Lewis, Lucille Brewer and Claudia Campbell; and step-sister, Bueluah Rhodes Lewis. Pallbearers were Geoffrey Lewis, David Campbell, Ben Campbell, Jordan Farmer, Aaron Farmer, Josh Potter, Gavin Lewis and Wally Turner.
