McPherren, son of James R. and Emma Clark McPherren, was born May 25, 1867, at Sunbeam, Ill., and passed away at Creston, Ia., April 4, 1952, at the age of 84 years, ten months and ten days. He had been in failing health for more than a year. On Sept. 1, 1889, he was united in marriage to Jennie L. Hitchcock at Cromwell, Ia. To this union six children were born, three of whom died in infancy. Mr. and Mrs. McPherren established their first home at Geneva, Nebr. where he was engaged in farming. They later homesteaded in Frontier county (sic) in the western part of the sate where the three surviving children were born. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie, who passed away in 1925. Since then he has made his home much of the time with his daughter, Mrs. Alfred Henry. Mr. McPherren was a member of the Methodist church most of his life. Besides his daughter, Mrs. Della M. Henry, he is survived by two sons, Field L. of Grand Island and Wayne B. of Omaha; one son-in-law, two daughters-in-law, 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and many friends. Services were held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, Apr. 6, in Afton, Iowa, and in the Klawitter chapel in Nelson at two the following afternoon. The Reverend Harold J. Coates officiated at the services here. Burial was made in the Nelson cemetery (sic). ================== Will R. McPherren, a former Geneva resident, died at Creston, Ia., April 4, 1952, at the age of 84 years, 10 months and 10 days. Mr. McPherren was a son of James R. and Emma Clark McPherren, pioneer residents of Stanton Township, Fillmore County, who were in charge of the county farm a good many years. Will McPherren was born May 25, 1867, at Sunbeam, Ill. He was married at Cromwell, Ia., to Jennie L. Hitchcock, September 1, 1889, and the newlyweds established their first home on a farm near Geneva. After a number of years Mr. McPherren homesteaded in Frontier County, later moving back to Iowa. Mrs. McPherren died in 1925. Mr. McPherren is survived by one daughter, two sons, 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday, April 6, at Afton, Ia., with further services Monday at Nelson, Neb. Interment was in the Nelson Cemetery.
