She was a native of Cherokee County, and the daughter of the late Bruce and Pearl Hardin Birchfield. Willa was a homemaker. She loved spending time with her family. Willa enjoyed quilting and making a garden. She was a member of Hyatts Creek Baptist Church, where she had been a former Sunday school teacher. "Moma" Adams, 91, of Andrews, passed away Friday, March 14, 2014, at her residence. She was a native of Cherokee County, and the daughter of the late Bruce and Pearl Hardin Birchfield. Willa was a homemaker. She loved spending time with her family. Willa enjoyed quilting and making a garden. She was a member of Hyatts Creek Baptist Church, where she had been a former Sunday school teacher. In addition to her parents, Bruce and Pearl Birchfield, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alnie Alvin Adams; infant twin daughters, Margaret and Martha Adams; son, Charles David Adams; infant twin great grandsons, Andy and Will Adams; grandson, Mark Adams; sister, Wanda Birchfield Adams; and brother, Otis Birchfield. She is survived by two sons, Alvin Alden Adams and wife Virginia of Andrews, and Stanley Boyd Adams and wife Kae of Conyers, Ga.; daughter-in-law, Lois Adams of Andrews; grandchildren, Dee Teel and husband Gordon of Alpharetta, Ga., Timothy David Adams and wife Wendy of Andrews, Anthony Alvin Adams and wife Kelly of Conover, Angel Leeanne Massey and husband Jake of Destin, Fla., Shoyne Adams and wife Jennifer of Andrews; great grandchildren, Julia Bernier, Ellie Belle Adams, Lillian Adams Massey and Timothy Jacob Massey; stepgrandchildren, Bob Alexander and wife Casey of Minot, N.D.; step great-grandchildren, Piper Alexander, Abraham Alexander and Hanna and Aubrey Baldwin; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2014, at the Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews. Dr. Calvin BoBo and Rev. David Anderson officiated. Music was provided by the Andrews First Baptist Church Choir and Smoky Mountain Gospel Singers. Burial was in the Valley River Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Tim Adams, Tony Adams, Eddie Adams, Shoyne Adams, Gordy Teel, Teddy Adams, Nicholas, Jerome and Russell Adams. Honorary pallbearers were Harold Adams, Floyd Adams, Larry Adams, Ray Adams, Jake Massey, T.J. Massey, Dr. Tom Clayton, Roy West, Scott West, Steve Guffey and Tommy Guffey. The family received friends from noon-2 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2014, at the Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews. Our hearts are filled with gratitude and love for the devotion and love shown to Moma Adams by her wonderful caregivers friends and nurses: Frances West, Debbie Wood, Linda Leguire, Joan Gregory, Penny Ruff, Anne Anderson, Monica Anderson Corn, Gina Sullivan, Melissa Roberts, Stacy Waldroup, and Dr. Tom and Carmen Clayton.
