He had emphysema and had been in ill health for the past five years. He was born December 28, 1915, at Columbus, to Charles F. and Sarah May Lewis Evans. He married Ruth Nevella Miller on July 7, 1939, at Lamar, Missouri. She died April 21, 1987. They lived in California for many years. Read More	Obituary, The Morning Sun, November 1987: Willard A. Evans, 71, of Route 4, died Monday, November 2, 1987, at his home. He had emphysema and had been in ill health for the past five years. He was born December 28, 1915, at Columbus, to Charles F. and Sarah May Lewis Evans. He married Ruth Nevella Miller on July 7, 1939, at Lamar, Missouri. She died April 21, 1987. They lived in California for many years. Mr. Evans was a barber by trade and has also worked for the George A. Hormel Company, The Pacific Fruit Express, the California State Department of Agriculture, and worked at the California State Legislature until he was permanently disabled in an accident at Tahoe Valley, California, in 1965. They returned to Pittsburg in 1966 and lived on Free King [sic] Highway since that time. Survivors include one son, Michael Joseph Evans of Humboldt; one daughter, Nancy Jeanne Margrave of Weir; three sisters, Thelma Scroggins of Girard, Susan Ports of Pittsburg, and Dorothy Davidson of Lakeland, Florida; and four grandchildren. Mr. Evans requested that he be cremated and have no services. His cremains will be buried in the Garden of Memories. Arrangements are under the direction of the Friskel Funeral Home in Frontenac.
