Willard was born on December 2, 1919, to Frank E., Sr., and Anna C. (Barry) Wonka at Weston. He married Lucille K. Hlavac on June 3, 1941, at Deweese. They moved to Los Angeles, California, and lived there from 1941-48 before moving back to Nebraska. From 1948-56, they operated Wonka's Grocery Store in Rosemont. From 1956-60, he worked for the Soil Conservation Service. They moved to Blue Hill in 1960. From 1960-82, he was a rural mail carrier for Blue Hill. While he was a rural mail carrier, he also worked at Century Lumber Center in Blue Hil in the afternoons. From December 1941 to January 1945, he served in the Air Force and was a turret gunner on a B-17. He was also active in the baseball program in Blue Hill and coached Pee Wee and Midgets for several years. He was an avid Senior Golfer and was a member of the Bear Canyon Sofball League and of the Our Lady of Assumption Church in Albuquerque. He was also a member of A.L. Shirley Post #176 of Blue Hill. He is survived by his wife, Lucille of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one son, Robert of Oakland; two daughters, Ann Buckner of Elmwood and Rebecca Kaufman of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one brother, Donald "Jack" of Grand Island; two sisters, Florris Zimmerman of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Florrine VanWinkle of Aurora Colorado; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
