Description	:	Services for Willard R. Ditter, 88, of Norfolk will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, at Grace Lutheran Church in Norfolk. The Rev. Ray Wilke will officiate with burial in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk. Military rites by American Legion Post 16, VFW Post 1644, both of Norfolk, and U.S. Army Honors Guard. He died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. Born May 20, 1929, in Genoa, he was the son of Reynold and Mary (Schreiber) Ditter. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Platte Center and confirmed there in 1942. Willard grew up in Monroe, where he graduated from Monroe High School in 1946. He then attended Doane College in Crete. He served in the U.S. Army from Feb. 26, 1953, to Feb. 25, 1955. After his service, Willard was an automotive instructor at Fort Bill, Okla. Willard then worked as an automotive mechanic at Northrup and Langel Chevrolet for 20 years, then Henningsen Machine for two years, then Ninth St. Conoco for seven years. He married Dawn Langenberg on Dec. 31, 1968, in Dillon, S.C. The couple made their home in Norfolk all of their married life. He especially enjoyed fishing, hunting and Nebraska Cornhusker football. He was noted as one of the best mechanics in Norfolk. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Norfolk and American Legion Post 16 of Norfolk. Survivors include his spouse, Dawn Ditter of Norfolk; children Dallas (Kathy) Ditter of Ellis, Kan., Sherrie (Don) Maliha of Leigh, Kent (Jessie) Ditter of Torrington, Wyo.; a stepdaughter, LaRee Stolp of Hadar; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and siblings Mary Ann Laudenclaus of Columbus, LeRoy (Dorothy) Ditter of Columbus and Kay (Lee) Rupp of Monroe. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Carroll Laudenclaus. Casketbearers will be Adam Vath, Josh Ditter, Aaron Ditter, Wade Ditter, Brian Maliha and Brent Ditter. Honorary casketbearers will be Richard Pasold, Glen Macumber, Lowell Janovec, Don Kraemer, Mark Fleer and Lyle Baker.
