HARRIS The funeral of WW Harris whose death was mentioned in last weeks Leader was held from the home of his son, O. M. Harris, Friday afternoon April 8, at 2 o'clock and was conducted by Rev. A. E. Kiser of the Malvern Presbyterian Church. Mr. Harris was a genial, kindly man, well liked by all who knew him and especially by children. We have known him ever since we came to Malvern and always held him in the highest esteem. He will be greatly missed not only by the family but by all his friends and associates. His son Frank of Phillips, NE and daughters Mrs. Beckwith of St. Joseph, MO and Mrs. Ewing of Newton, KS were here to attend the funeral. Willard W Harris was born in Marietta County, Ohio Dec. 26, 1830 and died in Malvern, Iowa April 7, 1910, aged 79 years, 3 months and 11 days. June 1, 1853 he was married to Miss Mary Clarke in LaGrange County, Indiana. To this union were born six children, viz: Frank C. Harris of Phillips, NE, Mrs. J.O. Foster, Springfield, MO, Orvis M. Harris, Malvern, Mrs. Ella H. Beckwith, St. Joseph, MO, Mrs. Harry Snyder, New York City, and Mrs. A. J. Ewing, Newton, KS. He first united with the Presbyterian Church in Memphis, MO and later transferred his membership to this place. In 1859 he moved to Scotland County, MO where he remained until the fall of 1861 when he went to Cass County, MI. from thence he came to Stark County, IL in 1867. In 1871 he moved to Scotland County, MO and to Iowa in 1880. In 1886 he went to Kansas where he resided some 12 years or until 1898 when he returned to Malvern where he resided at the time of his death. His wife preceded him to the better land, she having died June 2, 1902. In the family his going forth will leave a lasting void on the part of those who treasure the memory of his kind words and deeds. As a neighbor he was highly respected by all who knew him and he will be greatly missed by a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. The family desire through the Leader to express their gratitude to their many friends for kindness and assistance during the illness and death of their father.
