Bolen, currently of Greeley, was born July 19, 1910 in Brady, Nebraska to Elbert and Anna [Shue] Bolen. He passed away October 26, 1996 in the Hospice of Northern Colorado at the age of 86. Raised in Minden, Nebraska, Willard moved to Holyoke with his family as a child. He spent his early years farming. He also worked for the Foster Lumber Company in Holyoke. Bolen, currently of Greeley, was born July 19, 1910 in Brady, Nebraska to Elbert and Anna [Shue] Bolen. He passed away October 26, 1996 in the Hospice of Northern Colorado at the age of 86. Raised in Minden, Nebraska, Willard moved to Holyoke with his family as a child. He spent his early years farming. He also worked for the Foster Lumber Company in Holyoke. On November 27, 1929, Willard married Hazel Mary Starn in Julesburg. Bolen went to work for the Town of Holyoke with the police department on November 16, 1943. He retired July 19, 1970 after 27 years, 21 years as Police Chief. He then continued with the Town of Holyoke as Superintendent in charge of streets, water, parks and sewer. Many projects were started and completed under his direction. He served the citizens of Holyoke for a total of 29 years. After retirement, Willard took up golf and was active in the upkeep of the local golf course. He attended the First Baptist Church of Holyoke. Bolen served on the cemetery board from 1974-1986 and was a volunteer fireman. Preceding him in death were a daughter and a brother. Survivors include wife Hazel of Greeley; son Everett E. and wife Hazel Bolen of Denver; daughters Winona Lorance and husband Jay of Greeley and Wilma De Buono and husband Michael of Grand Junction; sister Vesper Bolen of Holyoke; sister-in-law Elsie Bolen of Holyoke; 10 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and five great, great grandchildren. Services were scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, October 31, 1996 at First Baptist Church in Holyoke. Interment to be in Holyoke Memorial Park.
