Description	:	W. J. Willemsen was born at Zutphen Gelderland, Netherlands, August 2nd, 1832, where he grew to manhood and was married to Mary Klein Lebbink on November 1st, 1854. Mr. Willemsen came to the United States with his family and located near Alton in 1882, and has lived in Sioux county ever since. Some years ago he invested in land near Middleburg where he has resided the most of the time till his death, and where Mra. Willemsen died in 1913. Mr. Willemsen came to the United States with his family and located near Alton in 1882, and has lived in Sioux county ever since. Some years ago he invested in land near Middleburg where he has resided the most of the time till his death, and where Mra. Willemsen died in 1913. Mr. Willemsen was the father of seventeen children, nine whom survive him and are as follows: William, of Orange City; Mrs. John Nyhuis and Mrs. John Slothouber, of Hull; Mrs. Gerrit Slothouber, of Orange City; Mrs. D. J. Oostenink, of Hull; Mrs. P. VanMeveren, of North Yakima, Washington; Mrs. H. VanderBrake, of Orange City; Mrs. Gerrit Roggen, of Sheldon, and Henry E., of Orange City. Besides the sons and daughters he leaves thirty-seven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. He died March 23rd, 1917, aged 84 years, 7 months and 21 days, and was buried at Middelburg, March 26, 1917, Rev's Beld and Douwstra officiating.
