Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2009 from 3-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. A vigil and Rosary service will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. William was born on June 18, 1919 in Sioux City, Iowa to Antone and Meri (Kupronis) Bulit. He grew up in Sioux City and graduated from East High School in 1938. He enlisted into the United States Army on September 13, 1939. William was P.O.W. for 3 years, where he marched in the Bataan Death March in the Philippines. He was honorably discharged on April 3, 1946. William returned to Sioux City where he met and married his wife Arlene Bernard on August 20, 1947. He worked at various places before going to work at Williams Brothers Pipeline Company for 18 years. He then was the owner and operator of the Black Coach Lounge and Restaurant for 9 years before retiring. He was a life long member of St. Casimirs Lithuanian Catholic Church after it closed he began attending St. Boniface Catholic Church. He was also a member of the American Legion Monahan Post #64 and the American Ex-prisoner of War Department of Iowa. William enjoyed carpentry work, playing cards and spending time with family and especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, and staying at the cabin in Minnesota. He is survived by his 5 children, Connie Rasmussen of Salix, IA; William A. Bulit, Jr. of Sioux Falls, SD; Robert Bulit and wife Julie of Sioux City, IA; Bryan Bulit of Sioux Falls, SD; Mary Greene and husband Ted of Jackson, NE; A brother Alfred Bulit and wife Mabel. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Arlene, 1 brother Leo Bulit and a grandchild Corey Rasmussen. Serving as, casket bearers will be R. John Bulit, Brandon Bulit, Chad Lewon, Brian Nelsen, Brad DeRoin and Mark Lippert. Honorary casket bearers will be Doug Shinkunis and Joe Shinkunis.
