His marriage to Wilhelmina Green took place here Aug. 27, 1927. She survives. He had been a resident of Ottumwa for 71 years. Besides his widow, he is survived by a son, William H. Neal of Ottumwa; two daughters, Mrs. Vivian Martin of Ottumwa and Miss Nyoka Neal at home; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Edna Jones of Ottumwa; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. The body is at the Reece Funeral Home. “Neal Funeral,” From “Ottumwa Courier,” January 16, 1963: Funeral services for William Neal, 81, who died Tuesday at 2:30 a.m. at his home, 604 Clarence, will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Reece Funeral Home. The Rev. Arthur Leach of the Seventh Day Adventist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Henry Lumsdon, Max Lumsdon, Jesse Jacquinot, Allen Headley, Claude Skinner and Ernest Hanna.
