Description	:	WaW.A. AND LILLA SAUNDERS William Albert (Bert) Saunders came from the State of Maine, U.S.A. with his family to Valley- field Quebec. Bert took his teacher training at McGill University. He came west to teach school at Arbor Park School north of Ponoka. He moved to Rimbey and was one of the early teachers in Rim- bey. Bert Saunders married Lilla Mae Rimbey in 1909. He was teaching in Rimbey at the time. Later he became secretary of the town replacing Joe Ren- shaw. He was teaching in Rimbey at the time. Later he became secretary of the town replacing Joe Ren- shaw. Bert and Lilla had three sons�Lester Gordon, Cyril Edward and Harvey. Harvey died when very young. Lester married Gladys Andrew and Cyril married Doris Spaulding. In the early days Bert was a big help with any entertainment. He played piano for sound during the silent picture days and helped with concerts. He had a very keen sense of humor and liked to play pranks on friends and relatives. In those days everybody made their own fun. Bert Saunders left Rimbey and was Secretary- Treasurer of the County of Ponoka for several years. At one time there were 3 generations of Saunders�W.A. Saunders, Lester Saunders and Donald Saunders all in county business. Lilla Saunders died December 31, 1949, and W.A. Saunders died June 17, 1959.
