Mr. and Mrs. Warren Laid to Rest Tuesday Funeral services were held for Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Warren at their home Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 with Rev. B.J. Elwood in charge. He especially brought out in his sermon how nice it was for these two people who had journeyed through life together could take their departure from this earth together. A quartet, Mrs. S.N. Bottum, Edna Allen, Neale and Hilary Major, sang "It Is Well With My Soul" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." Mrs. Bottum sang as a solo "Asleep in Jesus." The pallbearers were Charles and Eric Granberg, Alfred and Charles Syring, John Meyer, Harley Bottum, Henry Hansen, Val and Roy Bute, Alex Rowen, U. G. Harris and Francis Murphy. Burial was made in the Wessington Cemetery. Immediate relatives who attended the funeral from a distance Mr. and Mrs. Guy McElrath and son, Bud, of Oceanside, California, Mr. and Mrs. George Warren of Lead, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Warren, daughter Lois and son Lloyd of Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Warren of Lead, Mrs. Mae Warren and son Chester of Deadwood. Two representatives from the Geo. P. Sexauer Elevator were present for the funeral, too. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Warren, longtime residents of Wessington, died within a short time of one another during Friday night. Mrs. Warren, who was taken to a Huron hospital about ten days ago, died there Friday night at 7pm. Her health had been failing for the last three years. Mr. Warren, who also had not been well for some time, died at three o'clock Saturday morning at the Huron Convalescent where he had been taken four months ago. Mrs. Warren, whose maiden name was Martha Bridgford, was born at Sheffield, England, December 25, 1856. She grew to young womanhood there. William Albert Warren was born February 27, 1855 near London, England. He grew to manhood there. They were united in marriage in 1879 and came to the United States the same year. They settled near Boston, Mass. and lived there two years. To this union were born five children: three sons, Fred, George, William and two daughters, Elizabeth and Carrie. They came to Dakota Territory in 1881 and homesteaded in what is known as Hand County. They moved to Wessington in 1895 and there Mr. Warren was employed by the Northwestern Railroad until he went to work in the Geo. P. Sexauer Elevator. He retired from this employment in 1933. Mrs. Warren was a charter member of the Wessington Rebekah Lodge, a member of the Degree of Honor of the American Legion Auxiliary and of the Union Ladies Aid. Mr. Warren was formerly a member of the A.O.U.W. and he belonged to the Odd Fellows Lodge in England. They are survived by two sons, George of Lead and Fred of Miller, and one daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth McElrath of Oceanside, Calif., 22 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Their daughter, Carrie, preceded them in death in 1917 and their son, Willie, in 1921.
