The wedding reception was held with large attendance. ========================== The Lawrence Locomotive (Lawrence, NE), Thursday, November 1, 1945; pg. 1 HAJNY - MAZOUR An impressive wedding ceremony took place at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Deweese, Tuesday morning, Oct. 30th at which Miss LaVeta Hajny, the daughter of Mrs. John Kucera became the bride of Mr. William Mazour, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bohnslave (sic) Mazour of Lawrence. Rev. Otto Eckhamel officiated at the double ring ceremony which was followed by a Nuptial High Mass. The bride wore a floor length dress of white satin, fashioned with a sweetheart neckline, the long sleeves came to a point at the wrist. The fitted bodice buttoned down the back. Embroidered chrysanthemums decorated the waistline from which fell a full marquisette skirt which fell into a train. She wore a fingertip veil edged in lace, coronet style trimmed in pearls. And carried an arm bouquet of white chrysanthemums and her jewelry was three strands of pearls. The bride was attended by Miss Elsie Drudik, who wore a floor-length gown of sky blue taffeta, also with brocaded bodice and full net skirt. Her dress was trimmed in fushia (sic) flowers at the shoulder and waist, and she carried a colonial bouquet. The groom wore a dark blue suit and his attendant was Jim Nejezchleb who was dressed in brown. Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the home of the bride's parents for 80 guests. The table was centered with a beautifully decorated 3-tiered wedding cake. The bride is a graduate of Lawrence High School and was employed in Hastings by the Telephone Co. The groom is a prosperous young farmer of the Lawrence community. They will make their home one mile east and 3 1/2 north of Lawrence. In the evening the happy couple entertained their numerous friends at a dance in the Parish hall. The community extends the very best wishes for a happy life. ======================== The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, March 16, 1995; pg. 10 William [Bill] A. Mazour was born May 22, 1921, to B.G. and Eva [Hubl] Mazour, and passed away Saturday, March 4, 1995, at the age of 73 years, 9 months and 10 days. After attending country school north of Lawrence and the 9th grade in Lawrence, Bill helped his dad on the farm. October 30, 1945, at Assumption Church, Deweese, he was united in marriage to LaVeta Hajny. To this union four children were born. They lived and farmed north of Lawrence until May 1975 when they moved into Lawrence. Bill was a member of Sacred Heart Church, served as a trustee and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a devout Catholic, a loving husband, father and grandfather. Quite often he came up town for a game of cards. Preceding him in death were his parents; a granddaughter, Sheri Mazour; and twin grandsons, Jimmy and Johnny Uhrmacher. Survivors include his wife, LaVeta; two sons, Don Mazour and his wife Mary Ann and Gene Mazour and his wife Eileen, all of Lawrence, Nebraska; two daughters, Sally Uhrmacher and her husband Dale of Nelson, Nebraska, and Patty Johnson and her husband Doug of Ong, Nebraska; 16 grandchildren, Dawn, Craig, Tami and Philip Mazour, Christy Sole, Kathy, Aaron, Jeanie and Jennie Uhrmacher, Becky, Rachel and Cliff Mazour, Brenda, Glenda, Angie and Debbie Johnson; one brother, George Mazour and his wife Emma of Blue Hill, Nebraska; one sister, Julia Pavelka of Lawrence; one aunt, Agnes Drudik of Nelson; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were Tuesday morning, March 7, 1995, at Sacred Heart Church in Lawrence with burial in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Father Thomas Au was celebrant of the Mass of the Resurrection. Ray Mazour was Lector and the Acolyte was Ed Pavelka. Organists were Tami Mazour and Linda Ostdiek. Leonard Mazour led the congregational singing. Rosary services were Monday evening at the church. Pallbearers were Craig Mazour, Aaron Uhrmacher, Philip Mazour, Richard Sole, Cliff Mazour and Scott Kucera.
