Description	:	William A. Lamoureux, 79, rural Akron (Ruble), died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 1990 at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center, Sioux City, after a brief illness. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Ellendale. Rev. Mark Harrington officiated. Burial was in the Plymouth Presbyterian Cemetery at rural Akron. Graveside military rites were conducted by Oleson-Halweg post 125, American Legion, direction of Luedtke-Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars. Mr. Lamoureux was born Dec. 26, 1911 at Akron, Iowa to Edward and Amelia Rush Lamoureux. He attended school in Akron and worked on various ranches in Wyoming and Montana. For a time he worked as a crewman on Missouri river barges. He served in the U.S. army during World War II with the 90th Infantry Division at Normandy and across France and Germany. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and was discharged in 1945 with the rank of staff sergeant. He married Ruth A. Marbach Jan. 24, 1946. They farmed at Merrill until 1965, when they purchased the Ruble store and operated that store until his retirement in 1986. Mrs. Lamoureux died June 10, 1989. Mr. Lamoureux was a standing member of Oleson-Halweg Post 125, American Legion at Merrill and a member of St. Joseph Catholic church at Ellendale. Survivors are a son, Thomas W. Lamoureux and daughter-in-law, Rosa of Cerritos, Calif.; a daughter, Mary H. L. and son-in-law, Lynn Hovland of West DCS Motnes; three grandchildren, Jennifer L. and Andrew T. Lamoureux and Colette A. Lamoureux; a step-granddaughter, Tatiana L. Armstrong; a former daughter-in-law, Candice Greenwood of Grand Forks, N.D.; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Latham of Akron, and Mrs. Madolin Bay of Glenwood, Minn., and a brother, Walter of Chappell, Neb. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Eva and Ella, and seven brothers, Nap, Charlie, Leonard, Clifford, Milford, Lovay and Loyd.
