A. Owsley, in his 69th year of his age. Mr. Owsley was a native of Lincoln Co., Ky. He removed to Howard Co., Mo., in early life, and thence to Cherokee county, Kansas, about ten years since. He was a member of the distinguished Kentucky family whose name he bore. Mr. Owsley was a graduate of Center College at Danville, Ky., and although exceedingly modest and unassuming, he was a man of rare scholarly attainments. He had been a consistent member of the Presbyterian church for more than forty years, and died in the triumphs of the Christian's faith. He bequests to his surviving wife, and a large family of sons and daughters, the priceless heritage of a spotless Christian character, and the blessing of a covenant keeping God. The large concourse of friends and neighbors who gathered at his residence to pay the last sad office of duty and respect to his remains, and attend them to the quiet resting place in the retired cemetery, had scarcely finished their task, when the funeral procession of a tender infant of a few days, reached the same spot, and deposited their precious burden near his side. What a commentary on the fraility of human life.
