McNeilus Passed Away Friday Morning Funeral Services Held Sunday; Attended by Large Number of Relatives and Friends Bristow, Iowa, Sept. 19 (Special) The passing of W.A. McNeilus on Friday morning, September 15, cast a gloom over the entire community. He was one of our substantial citizens, holding many positions of trust and always conscientiously doing his duty. As a member of the board of education, councilman or in whatever capacity he served, he was dependable. He had served for many years as secretary and treasurer of the Oak Hill Cemetery association, efficiently. Funeral was on Sunday, September 17, from the Church of Christ, where deceased held membership and were in charge of the minister, G.W. Beadle, at 2:00 o'clock. The funeral was largely attended, many could not gain entrance to the church, scores of sympathizing friends and neighbors from this and neighboring communities, came as a last tribute of respect for the departed one, and to sympathize with the bereaved family. The altar of the church was banked with most beautiful floral offerings the gift of relatives and friends. The music was rendered by Mrs. Waite and Mrs. Morord, with Mrs. J.E. Needham playing the accompaniment. C.A. Waite assisted with the arrangement of the funeral cortege, and Miss Dorthy Waite and Miss Faun Fahr arranged the flowers. The casket bearers were friends and close associates, J.E. Needham, Chas. Fahr, Milo Flanigan, Chas. Moore, H. R. Duffield and Irving Trindle. William Archie McNeilus was born March 21, 1886 in Bennezette township, Butler County, Iowa and passed from this life on Friday morning, September 15, 1933, at his home west of Bristow, Iowa. He was the second son of Andrew and Rebecca McNeilus. He was united in marriage to Ethel Walsh on July 11, 1906. To this union were born seven children: Mrs. Laura Olson, Chicago; Gladys, Jim, Archie, Floyd, Ardath and Aleece, all at home. Seven brothers and sisters also survive: Frank McNeilus, Bristow; Mrs. Bert Shaw, Clarksville; Mrs. Henry Wehraze, Alexander, Iowa; Mrs. Vern Early, Dumont; George McNeilus, Clarion; Mrs. Howard Miller, Dumont, Minn., and Herbert McNeilus, Clarksville, Iowa. and with these, many other relatives and hosts of friends mourn his loss. Interment was at Oak Hill. Those who came from a distance to attend last rites: Mr. and Mrs. Gene Olson, Chicago; George McNeilus, Clarion; John McNeilus and family, Waterloo; Mr. and Mrs. Bert Shaw, Clarksville; Mrs. Will Ebling, Barnsville, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. G. Pierce, Hudson, Iowa; Herbert McNeilus and family, Clarksville; Will Williams and wife and Mrs. Cynthia Loomer, Clarksville, and scores of others too numerous to mention. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to those who are left to mourn.
