At 7 o’clock Tuesday morning, March 4, he died at his home in Keosauqua, after a long illness. Mr. Lippincott enjoyed an unusually large acquaintance. For many years he and his late wife conducted the Russell House here, and their hospitality was known and praised far and wide. Mr. Lippincott was also actively interested all his life in politics, being an ardent democrat, and had a large acquaintance with politicians of the state. The following paragraphs are a part of the address read by Rev. C. E. Perkins at the funeral service, held at the Congregational church Thursday. William Aristides Lippincott, was born in Philadelphia, Penn., Nov. 17, 1839, and died on the morning of Tuesday, March 4, 1919, being at the time of his death 79 years, 3 months and 17 days old. An unusually complete family record shows that his parents were married in Philadelphia in 1830, and that this branch of the Lippincott family lived, before coming to Philadelphia, in Gloucester County, New Jersey. W. A. Lippincott was one of the most methodical of men; and some years ago he wrote out an autobiography, bringing it down to the burial of his beloved wife in February, 1916. I am going to read this document at this point, in the exact phraseology in which it is written.
