Bill was born in Scotland County, MO, February 13, 1919, to William Shultz and Jennie (Smith) Shultz, both are deceased. He first married Freda White in 1938. She preceded him in death. He later married Louise Marie (Walkowiak) Listebarger on May 28, 1983. She survives. He had been a resident of Fort Madison, IA, since 1939. Madison, IA, passed away August 1, 2007, at the West Point Care Center, West Point, IA. Bill was born in Scotland County, MO, February 13, 1919, to William Shultz and Jennie (Smith) Shultz, both are deceased. He first married Freda White in 1938. She preceded him in death. He later married Louise Marie (Walkowiak) Listebarger on May 28, 1983. She survives. He had been a resident of Fort Madison, IA, since 1939. He was an electrician for the AT & SF Railroad, retiring in 1981 with 20 years of service. He was an active member of the First Christian Church and was a deacon emeritus. He was also a member of the Eagles Club and the National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees. Before his time with the railroad, he and his son, Gerald operated Wright Hardware. He was a jack of all trades and loved gardening, music and dancing. Survivors include his wife, Louise Marie Shultz of Fort Madison, IA; four daughters, Janet Burkholder of Fort Madison, IA, Judy Schneider of Denmark, IA; Vickie Hill of Ottumwa, IA, and Wanda Shultz of Ottumwa, IA; one step-son, Kirk Listebarger of Harvard, IL; one step-daughter, Mary Ann Gomez of Virginia Beach, VA; one brother, Arza Shultz of Alexandria, MO; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Freda; one son, Gerald; two brothers, Harry and Robert; and one sister, Helen. Funeral services were held August 4, 2007, at the First Christian Church, Fort Madison, IA. Reverend John Simpson officiated. Mr. Shultz, as per his wishes, was cremated following the services. A private burial will be held at a later date at the Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, IA. A memorial has been established for the First Christian Church and Santa Fe United Methodist Church, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
