Read More	The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, October 8, 1925 William Ashby Bunnell was born near Danville, Illinois, September 28, 1866 and died at his home in Nelson, Nebraska, October 5, 1925, aged 59 years and 7 days. He was left an orphan at the age of four years. He lived among friends 'till nine years old, when he came overland to Nebraska with a family who had taken him to raise. He suffered all the hardships and buffetings of pioneer days, living mostly in Northern Webster County. He was a man of unusual capabilities and made for himself a name which stood for honesty, uprightness and business acumen. Always ready to help any who called on him in trouble, he could be depended upon in any emergency. To this union with Mrs. Elizabeth Chapin, six children were born: Mrs. Myrtle Brundage of Sandpoint, Idaho; Delbert A. of Carpenter, Wyoming; Wm. Kirby, address unknown; Elmer E. of Nelson, Nebr.; and Irl L. of Lawrence, Nebr. The sixth child was buried with the mother May 30, 1901. Mr. Bunnell was married to Grace Kellogg of Red Cloud, Nebraska, September 16, 1903. Twins, a boy Wallace C. and a girl, Hazel, were born to them, the little girl dying at birth. One brother, John B. Bunnell of North Bend, Oregon, still survives, of the family of four children. Although undemonstrative toward his family, he nevertheless proved his deep affection in many ways. Besides the wife and children, he leaves a host of friends to mourn and miss him. The funeral service was held at the home in Nelson, Thursday afternoon October 8th, 1925, at 2:30, conducted by Vincent R. Beebe, Methodist. Music was by the Male Quartet. Many friends and neighbors were present to pay their tribute of esteem. Burial was in the Nelson cemetery (sic). There is much regret throughout the scommunity (sic) over this departure and much sympathy is felt for those who mourn.
