Born Aug. 31, 1922, in Diamond Valley to Arnold Wilhelm August Juchtzer and Charotte Sophie Syll Juchtzer, he was a resident of Genoa for 66 years. He served on the town board, was a docent at the museum, a volunteer fireman and helped build the original fire house. He moved to Minden in 1989. He was a charter member of the Lions Club of Carson Valley. He worked as a cowboy at the East Walker Ranch before joining the Navy at age 20. He served in the Pacific during World War II on the USS Pensacola. He and his father and brother had the trash business at Lake Tahoe, then drove logging, milk and cattle trucks for the James Canyon Ranch. He worked for Continental Telephone Co. until retirement. Mr. Juchtzer is survived by his wife, Elva of 34 years; son, Gregory, of Gardnerville; daughter, Cindy, of Liberty, Sask.; stepsons: Edward Gill, of Napa, CA, and David Gill, of Reno; stepdaughter, Virginia (Ginger) Stodieck, of Hilisboro, OR; brother, Edward Juchtzer, of Carson City; sister, Zelma Simpson, of Oroville, CA; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
