Description	:	William is the son of William and Susan (Imsicke) Schulte. He attended Sacred Heart Academy at Olean and Snyder High School. William served over four years in the U.S. Army, October 1941 to December 1945, with his final assignment overseas on the Solomon and Philippine Islands in the Pacific. He married Evelyn Vogel on February 12, 1946 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Olean. William and Evelyn have lived in Dodge all their married lives. Read More	William is the son of William and Susan (Imsicke) Schulte. He attended Sacred Heart Academy at Olean and Snyder High School. William served over four years in the U.S. Army, October 1941 to December 1945, with his final assignment overseas on the Solomon and Philippine Islands in the Pacific. He married Evelyn Vogel on February 12, 1946 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Olean. William and Evelyn have lived in Dodge all their married lives. They celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary on February 12, 2019. William entered into a partnership with his older brother, Leonard, in owning and operating the 'Schulte Tavern and Café' in Dodge. They remained partners for five years after which William was awarded a job with the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier, a job he held for 30 years, retiring on Jan. 25, 1980. William believed in always staying busy, working part time for almost every business in town, including managing the Dodge swimming pool for six years. William was also very active in the community. He served 30 years on the Dodge Volunteer Fire Department, many as Chief, during which time the Dodge Rescue Squad was started. He was a member of the rescue squad for seven years and it’s first Captain. On September 22, 1963, he was recognized for Outstanding Firemanship by Aksarben of Omaha and the following year the Dodge Fire Department received a similar honor. He also served on the Dodge School Board, member of the Dodge Ambulance Service, and member of the Dodge American Legion Post 122, serving as both Commander and Adjutant. He was a devout Catholic and very active at his St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. When the church and Catholic school were built, William served on the building committees and also the building crews of parish volunteers. He was a Trustee of the church, member of the Holy Name Society, and Catholic Order of Foresters. William and Evelyn attended regular mass and he proudly said he has served mass for every priest thru 2010, in his 90‘s. William has always enjoyed time with family and friends, always ready to join in a card game, start a conversation, or help out in the community when ever he could.
