Burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers were nephews, Walter Prauner and John Volk of Battle Creek, Wm. Prauner and Arnold Schmidt of Madison, Henry Volk of Meadow Grove and Geo. Volk, Norfolk. Mr. Volk was born May 27, 1879, at Berfelden, Germany, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William C. Volk. The family came to the United States in 1881, and lived in Illinois one year before moving to Madison County in 1882, where Mr. Volk had since resided. He was married June 21, 1905, to Miss Ottilia Winck at Cleveland. They lived on a farm three miles southeast of Battle Creek 39 years, moving to Battle Creek in 1946. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Otto Borchers of Battle Creek and Miss Elinor Volk of Wayne; four sons, Alfred and Edwin of Battle Creek, Martin of Plainview and Arthur of Vermillion; two sisters, Mrs. John Kahler of Meadow Grove, and Mrs. Arthur Schmidt of Madison, and one brother, William, Norfolk.
