Description	:	The Palmer Journal, July 16, 1953, page 4, transcribed by Linda Berney William Austin, son of Robert and Electa Ann (Holcomb) Lingford, was born at Elizabeth, Ill., on November 9, 1864 and died at the Coolidge Hospital in Palmer, Nebraska, on July 9, 1953 at the age of 88 years, 6 months and 28 days. Read More	The Palmer Journal, July 16, 1953, page 4, transcribed by Linda Berney William Austin, son of Robert and Electa Ann (Holcomb) Lingford, was born at Elizabeth, Ill., on November 9, 1864 and died at the Coolidge Hospital in Palmer, Nebraska, on July 9, 1953 at the age of 88 years, 6 months and 28 days. He filed on a homestead in Perkins County, Nebraska in 1885. While living there he met and was married to Rel Brown on February 19, 1890, to which union five children were born. In that same year he and his wife moved to Adams County, Nebraska where he was engaged in farming until 1905, when the family moved to a farm near Dannebrog, Nebraska. Mr. Lingford for many years was active in the breeding and exhibiting of purebred livestock and was keenly interested in this phase of farming activity even since his retirement from the farm in 1928. For some years thereafter and until the death of Mrs. Lingford in 1946, they made their home in St. Paul, Nebraska, with a son, Harry L. Lingford. After Mrs. Lingford's death he made his home with a daughter, Mrs. Arch W. Baxter of St. Paul, Nebraska, until 1949, since which time he has been at a nursing home in Palmer, Nebraska. Mr. Lingford was a kind husband and father, a good neighbor, a helpful friend to all he knew, and was especially popular with small children. At the time of his death he was a member of the Church of Christ at Palmer, Nebr. During his active life he has been identified with many activities for the upbuilding and betterment of the communities in which he lived. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, three brothers and four sisters. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Irene Baxter, St. Paul, Nebraska, Mrs. Elta Grim, Dannebrog, Nebr., Mrs. Myrl Swain, North Platte, Mrs. Erma Roe, Los Angeles, Calif., one son, Harry L. Lingford, St. Paul, Nebr., twenty-three grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. [...Funeral details....]
