Alderson, son of John and Ruth Alderson was born in Franklin, Kentucky, January 9, 1835, and passed into the great beyong at the home of his son, Charlie Alderson, near Howard, March 14, 1928, at the ripe old age of 93 years, 2 months and 5 days. Alderson, son of John and Ruth Alderson was born in Franklin, Kentucky, January 9, 1835, and passed into the great beyong at the home of his son, Charlie Alderson, near Howard, March 14, 1928, at the ripe old age of 93 years, 2 months and 5 days. At the age of 21 years he moved with his father, brothers and sisters to Cass county, Missouri. Soon after locating in Missouri he met and married Miss Nancy Jane Butts. To this union nine children were born, two having preceded the father. Those living are three daughters, Mrs. L. C. Moody, Corwin, Kansas; Mrs. E. C. Allen, ElDorado, Kansas; Mrs. Mollie McLaughlin, Centrallia, Washington, and four sons, Henry of Missouri; and Charlie, Bud and Derwood all of Howard. About the year 1887 he moved with his family to Elk county, Kansas, where he has since made his home. For a great many years he was affiliated with the Presbyterian church, but at the age of 86 he was reclaimed into the assembly of God. Grandpa Alderson leaves a host of relatives and friends to mourn his departure. Funeral services were held at the home of his son Charlie, five miles west of Howard, Saturday morning at ten o'clock. Rev. J. W. Bayles of the Baptist church of Howard conducted the service and the male quartet from Howard furnished the music. C. Barackman, T. E. Thompson, F. L. Dobyns, and W. S. Barackman comprised the quartet. Burial was made in the Cresco Cemetery (obit provided by Louise Havens)
